Switching Things Up: Going Overhead!

At Sit and Paws Studio, we’re usually all about our tried-and-true three-light setup—it gives us flexibility, crisp details, and that signature pop. But sometimes, you’ve just gotta shake things up.
Enter: the overhead light.

Instead of building our scene with three lights, we stripped it back and dropped a single light right above our furry models. The result? Total mood. Think dramatic shadows, glowing highlights, and a look that feels more like fine art than fetch.
Of course, we couldn’t resist testing it out on our in-house supermodels (thanks, pups 🐾). Turns out, the overhead setup is perfect for those moody portraits where their personalities shine in a whole new way.

We’re not retiring our three-light setup anytime soon (it’s still our go-to for playful, bright sessions), but now we’ve added another tool to our kit. Sometimes it’s fun to keep everyone—two-legged and four-legged—on their toes.

So, next time you’re in the studio, you can choose: classic three-light sparkle, or bold overhead drama… or maybe a little of both.
